mr collins continues to be the wonderful husband I knew he would be from the start. He is a great grandfather to our first grandchild “Princess”. He is wonderful as a SIL to my sweet mother and father. He is wonderful in every way!

He is currently making it through his normal nearly 12 hour work day and 1-2+ hour commute to and from work to go by the  hospital to see his FIL/my sweet Daddy who had a stroke on April 3rd. He is planning to spend his Saturday building a rail for the steps in Dad’s garage so he can get into the house when he comes home from the hospital.

mr collins is a really good man and I love him so.

My Dad had finally succumbed to me knitting him some socks. He said any color was OK as long as they were red. He also specified that he didn’t want them thick. The answer: Lorna’s Laces Sock in the new colorway “Red Rover”. Just cast them on and got the first few rounds behind me. Love the color and Dad will love them. Say a prayer for him ~ he sadly suffered a stroke last Tuesday, April 3rd. He is coming  back around though and we are hopeful that he will get back to normal.

So  my now 8  month old granddaughter ~ affectionatlely known as Princess needed leggings/leg warmers ~ something of that nature. I discover “Baby Legs” which are more or less adorable baby leggings but they squeeze her thighs and make red marks and we can’t stand it because they seem to hurt her.

So I measure those delicious baby thighs et al and cast on with some soft scrap yarn and whip a prototype in soft pink and VOILA! they work they work!

So, have to go to work now to make her several pairs. She will need them even through summer as she is about to crawl and they protect the legs and keep baby clean.

Ok so I call them that. I never dreamed they would look like this! (Promise to post a picture soon). Am nearly through the first sock in Lorna’s Laces Sport colorway “Happy Valley” which I loved on the internet photos, loved less in person as it was brighter but became fond of. So I happily cast on and begin knitting away and look down to realize that the self striping is more or less yellow ~ running into greenish with pinks… and immediately my brain said “Green Eggs and Ham” so there, you have it, they are officially named. My DIL said they are happy socks and that they are!

BTW - Lorna’s Laces Sport is a YUMMY YUMMY  yarn that I truly love!

Just finished my first socks in Regia yarn. They are blue and for DH. I thought a couple of grimacing things as I knit these. The yarn did not feel soft to me and it had more splitting to it than I like to see. However, they are finished and just had their first wash in Woolite last night. (I always wash socks the first time in warm water and Woolite for some reason). They came out sooooo soft! YUM! I was/am delighted!

I love love love this yarn! Am currently knitting 2nd pair of socks for DH in the color Brite Charcoal which is just gorgeous for manly socks! The first pair was in Castagna. They are washing and wearing beautifully; getting softer and softer. Am also about to cast on my first pair of Jitterbugs in the color Marble which I love! If you haven’t tried this stuff - TRY IT! One hank makes a pair of socks on size 2 (3mm) knitting needles.

There have been some mention of short yardage on Jitterbug but I have not experienced it at all.

Recently visited this small older yarn shop. Sorry to say I was not too enthralled with this little shop but then every experience is not the same. It was small, a little dusty and outdated. There was a relatively decent selection but the atmosphere of the shop overshadowed that. The needle and accessory selection was quite outdated as the musty packages and pricing showed. However there is always some good.. I did pick up some adorable needle protectors for next to nothing ~ even in old dusty packaging.

Recently I visited this lovely shop. It is lovely. It’s in an old home and every room is filled with delights. The owner keeps a huge inventory of yarn so you have no problem with choices! She believes that metal knitting needles are not good for you as  the drain the warmth from your hands so she carries only needles made of other contents. Great place! Stop in…
